Mommy Brain?

When I was pregnant, whenever I did something out of character, forgot something or said something that didn't make sense, everyone would always say that I had "pregnancy brain." Going by the title, I thought this would go away when Claire was born but then sleep deprivation took over and it got even worse. When Claire started sleeping better I hoped that my brain would recover and return to its pre-pregnancy state, but it seems that it is forever scarred! I still can never think of the word I am looking for, always go into the next room to do something and can never remember what I was about to do when I get there and forever am going to the store to get something and coming home with everything but what I had originally gone there for! It is so frustrating living with a brain that only functions on low to moderate capacity! I feel like I am always starting to say something and by the middle of my sentence I can't remember what I was going to say and if it even had a point. It is like Claire stole half of my brain (at least she's the cutest little thief I've ever seen)!
Now what was I saying...
On Monday night some of my friends and I went to the airport to welcome home our friend Laura who has been in Germany for the past year.
It was a great evening but my less than satisfactory brain definitely got in the way! First of all I could not seem to get into the airport parkade! I drove around that crazy airport three times before I actually figured out how to get in (during my search for the parkade entrance I ended up driving into another parking lot that I couldn't get out of without backing up through the entrance, a very difficult task). Then when I finally found a place to park I couldn't find the airport! I ended up going to where the airport used to be and finding no airport (which would make complete sense if I hadn't been to new airport more than enough times already)! When I finally found the airport and welcomed Laura back to Canada, I realized that I didn't remember what I'd done with my ticket to get out of the parkade, nor had I taken note of where I had parked! After looking for and finding my car it turned out that the parking ticket was in fact in my pocket! If this isn't a bad case of "mommy brain" I don't know what is!

  1. Haha! I laughed out loud at this! I've circled the airport before too and driven into the wrong area and ended up parking there because I didn't want to pay to leave (and this was long before pregnancy/baby). I wish I could've seen you trying to back out:)
