Puttering
Claire will be 8 months old tomorrow and is now (finally) sleeping through the night. She will usually sleep from about 8:30pm till 8:00am! I am extremely excited about this because I am finally getting a good amount of sleep (Yippee!) and after many months of very little and sometimes no sleep this is very much appreciated. It is really incredible how much happier I am when I get a good nights sleep and it also has helped me to get some things done during the day! I have so much time and energy that as soon as Claire goes down for a nap I have begun to putter. For some of you who aren't familiar with this term it is defined by dictionary.com as: to busy or occupy oneself in a leisurely, casual, or ineffective manner and I believe that this is a completely accurate definition except for the last part. I know that puttering can be very effective and you will soon understand why.
Now that I have time to putter around my house I think that it is one of the most fun and entertaining things to do AND you get a ton accomplished. I
just walk from room to room and putter around! I organize drawers that
need organizing (or reorganizing) or vacuum little crevices and cracks that I normally
don't see, I go through cupboards and throw out stuff that I don't
need and put other things in jars with labels (putting things in jars is probably
my favourite part! Everything looks better in a jar!). Then when I'm
finished that I get out notebooks and papers and write things down
that I've been thinking about, type things out on my computer and brainstorm other things that I can putter around doing!
One example of my puttering:
