My Morning Tea

Oh Morning Tea! How I love you! Every day when Claire goes down for her first nap I make you and drink you and you taste so warm and comforting. As soon as Claire starts to look sleepy I get excited about drinking you and taking a little time to relax while the house is so peaceful and quiet.
I take one last look at Claire snuggling into her cozy white bear blanket, close her door and head down the stairs and into the kitchen.
I listen as Claire happily murmurs to herself and begins to fall asleep, as the water in the kettle begins to bubble and boil. My excitement builds as I get the tea bag out of the bright Red Rose box, put it in my mug and wait for the water to soak up all that black tea goodness. As the water turns black I add the two most important ingredients, cream and sugar. I love a good helping of cream and much too much sugar (usually this is met by the disapproval of my husband, but alas, he is at work and I am free to add as much as I want). Now the tea turns the most wonderful creamy brown.
I hold the warm mug in my hands and take the first comforting sip. I can feel the tension in my mind and body slip away as the delight of your creamy taste fills my mouth. In that moment everything is right with the world! There are no whiny 15 month olds and no dishes to be done. There is no losing my patience when Claire bursts into tears because we had to close the fridge or speed reading a book for the 50th time because Claire likes to flip the pages as fast as humanly possible. There is only me and my Morning Tea!
